Aluminum windows are highly inefficient. By upgrading to vinyl windows windows, you will lower utility costs, increase property value, reduce outdoor noise.
Here is the typical weathered aluminum double pane window in vinyl siding and we will start the procedure to remove and replace this aluminum window with a high energy efficient vinyl window.
Start but unlocking the bottom window.
Lean it back and remove it. Some are held in by screws. This one came out very easily.
Here is the window with the bottom window sash removed.
The top part is more difficult. You much use a razor blade and cut the silicone caulking that is holding the glass in place.
And here we just have the window frame remaining.
Score the inside so you don’t damage any of the paint when you start to remove the frame.
Smash the center support and remove it.
We use a custom built tool to remove the window frame. Their are a few on the market.

For the best fit, we needed to cut the returns. Vinyl windows are much thicker than aluminum windows.
Tack a sheet up to prevent dirt from entering the house.

Set the window, check for even gaps and install the 4 screws.
Slide the screw covers to hide the screws.
Insulate the sides if needed and caulk the perimeter of the window.
Caulk the inside perimeter of the window.
