The TCM or transmission control module is a mechanism that regulates a vehicle’s automatic transmission. The transmission control module, collects information that is used to calculate gear shifting.
– Check engine light on with codes such as: P0700 P0607 P06B8 P0884
– Gear selector showing wrong gear or not engaging correct gear.
– Gear selector clicking or stuck in park.
– Random clicking actuator noises coming from transmission while the key on and the engine off.
– When vehicle comes to a stop it is unable to go forward again due to transmission failure mode.

There are several revisions of this module, try to get the newest revision to insure reliability.
The Ford Focus & Fiesta power shift dual clutch TCM transmission control module is located near the driver side front fender well. It is attached to the side of the transmission. You’ll need to remove the front driver side tire and the inner fender to access it.
The TCM uses two large connectors. To disconnect and remove this module, lift the gray levers which will release the electrical connectors from the module.
Careful not to crack or break the plastic, they can get brittle with age.
The TCM is held in place with 4 10mm bolts. It uses 2 o-rings that seal the TCM when mounted to the transmission. I recommend replacing the o-rings with new ones.
Once the TCM is removed, inspect the clock gears for wear or damage to the gear teeth. These clock gears directly affect the shifting and performance of the transmission.
Inspect the electrical connectors for loose connections, broken pins, water corrosion or burnt wires. You’ll also want to make sure that the module has a good ground.
